Some useful information:
South Bend Watch Co. marked grades in following pattern:
Even numbers are for hunter and odd for open face (grade 180 is a hunter and grade 419 is open face)
1xx – size 0 (with exception to grades 160, 170 and 180 which are size 6)
4xx – size 12
2xx – size 16
3xx – size 18
The Studebaker – highest grade made by the company
Studebaker – mail order watches, fine watches but not to be confused with higher quality The Studebaker
Railroad approved South Bend grades:
18 size – 323, 327, 328, 329
16 size – 223, 227, 229, 292, 293, 294, 295, Polaris
